Synopsis

MoodJam is a site where people can record their moods using words and color and share them with friends and family. The initial release of MoodJam featured a simple visualization of moods using color strips.

In my final InfoVis project, I focused on creating different ways to visualize the moods of MoodJam users. My exploration yielded several visualizations that:

  1. uses a star burst pattern to visualize aggregates of moods associated with words to facilitate recognition of trends in color use.
  2. shows users' notes about their moods to show the context in which people experienced their moods.
  3. plots on a timeline the moods of two people to allow comparison of moods in time.
  4. allows people to search for the colors associated with particular moods.
